OSPR offers a full line up of adult soccer programming throughout the year with pick up sessions as well as an indoor futsal league and a spring outdoor league. Our leagues are for anyone who has a love for the game, looking to stay active and have while doing so.For more info on the current session, please see below.
 
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM    HappyFeet Soccer - HappyFeet Soccer Leauge for 3 & 4 year olds
Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.
 
10:30 AM - 1:00 PM    FALL YOUTH SOCCER - 1st Grade
Soccer is offer to children in Grades K– 3rd  will meet once weekly for practice and on Saturdays for a game at 10:30AM, 11:45AM or 1:00PM. Practices will start the week of Sept. 4th and games will start on the 15th. The players are divided into  Co-Ed groups for: Kindergarten and 1st grade. 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM    The Natural Side - Outdoor Programming - Marine Ecology at Harvey's Beach
OSPR is happy to offer a full line up of outdoor family fun this year.  The Natural Side!  From nature walks to hikes to water fun, OSPR has you covered.  Each of these events are designed to get the family outdoors, active and learning.Interpretive walks and guides will be led by Patricia Laudano, Naturalist Field Researcher and Educator.  Her programs will last 1.5 hours on average.

Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.
 
3:15 PM - 4:00 PM    Silly Scientists - Silly Scientists
This OSPR classic will have your child engaged in science and having a great time with their friends as they explore, solids, liquids, gas, slime, magnets and a whole lot more.We offer two age levels of our Silly Science program, pre-K and K-3rd.

Afterschool at the Rec we offer an intense hour of action packed sports extravaganza. Each week will focus on a different sport…Basketball, Floor Hockey, Soccer and so much more! You are not going to want to miss out on the fun.
 
3:15 PM - 4:00 PM    Flag Football - Flag Football (2nd - 3rd Grade)
Students  are invited to learn the basics of the game of flag football. This Co-ed non-contact activity will meet once a week for 5 weeks.
 
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM    Adult Volleyball Wednesday Nights - Adult Volleyball Wednesday Nights
On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind. Class meets on Mondays & Thursdays from 10:00AM-11:15AM Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern

Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.

The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

Students  are invited to learn the basics of the game of flag football. This Co-ed non-contact activity will meet once a week for 5 weeks.

On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

OSPR is bring this gym class classic to life in our new fall adult league.  Teams of 6 will take the court and dodge there way in a best of 5 match to determin the winner.  We will used adult size gator balls and will follow some classic rules as well as some of OSPR's in house classics to make each match a ton of fun.Only the team captain needs to register for the entire team.  Teams may have up to 10 people on the roster, but only 6 people will play in a match.Team registration and rosters are due by October 10th.

9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind. Class meets on Mondays & Thursdays from 10:00AM-11:15AM Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern

The Teen Center is a drop-in program at the OSPR Recreation Center behind Town Hall and adjacent to the Old Saybrook Middle School.  It is a supervised setting where your child can interact with peers and develop social skills and relationships.  We have a wide variety of activities and games offered daily.  Members are able to use the Teen Center lounge and game tables, the gym, as well as the outside basketball courts and baseball field.Members may attend the Rec Monday-Thursday from 2:30pm-5:30pm, starting on Tuesday, September 4th. Friday Night Teen Center,7:00pm-9:30pm, starting on Friday, September 14th1/2 Days on Monday - Thursday - TC 11:55am to 5:30pmPlease print out the form from the link below and return to office before you child attends the first time.

Dance for joy with OSPR!!! Use jazzy Hip-hop and Salsa to learn basic techniques, spins, and footwork that will help you to dance and even create a routine.

Kids learn how to groove to the rhythm of their favorite songs!  This program will have your child using their imagination and exploring a variety of movements, patterns, sounds and concepts.  This program is designed to introduce children to music and dance.

OSPR offers a full line up of adult soccer programming throughout the year with pick up sessions as well as an indoor futsal league and a spring outdoor league. Our leagues are for anyone who has a love for the game, looking to stay active and have while doing so.For more info on the current session, please see below.

Soccer is offer to children in Grades K– 3rd  will meet once weekly for practice and on Saturdays for a game at 10:30AM, 11:45AM or 1:00PM. Practices will start the week of Sept. 4th and games will start on the 15th. The players are divided into  Co-Ed groups for: Kindergarten and 1st grade.
