The Teen Center is a drop-in program at the OSPR Recreation Center behind Town Hall and adjacent to the Old Saybrook Middle School.  It is a supervised setting where your child can interact with peers and develop social skills and relationships.  We have a wide variety of activities and games offered daily.  Members are able to use the Teen Center lounge and game tables, the gym as well as the outside basketball courts and baseball field.1/2 Days on Monday - Thursday - TC 11:55am to 5:30pmPlease print out the form from the link below and return to office before you child attends the first time.

Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind. Class meets on Mondays & Thursdays from 10:00AM-11:15AM Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Welcome to the 41st annual Summer Concert Series brought to you by Guilford Savings Bank. We have 10 weeks of live music at the Town Green on Wednesdays night starting at 6:30pm and then on 5 Friday nights at Harvey's Beach starting at 7:00pm.We would like to thank all of our sponsors and community partners who help us bring this 15 show series to our residents for FREE. Bring a blanket and some chairs, pack a picnic and enjoy a great night of live music.This is a family friendly event and as with all of our parks and facilities, the use of alcohol and/or tobacco is prohibited. 
 
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM    Adult Volleyball Wednesday Nights - Adult Volleyball Wednesday Nights
On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

This theatrical program will include highly structured Drama activities and games followed by rehearsals for our live production! Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. These classes build on each other, and working towards our big idea for the program. Each class will incorporate fun confidence building activities, games and rehearsals and a live production.
 
9:45 AM - 10:30 AM    Life at the beach - Life at the Beach
This class features lots of crafts projects that will focus on a Beach Theme. We will use shells, sand, stories, sea creatures and more. Class takes place in the Recreation Center. Class lasts 6 weeks.

The Park & Recreation Department will offer a Before & After Camp Care program. These extra hours are designed to provide supervision to youth in grade 1st – 5th whose parents work beyond the 9:00-4:00PM Camp time. We will staff from 8:00 –9:00 a.m. with a ratio of one staff to every 12 children. After Care will be available from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. with the same ratio. Staff is not on duty before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:30 p.m. Please make sure your child is dropped off or picked up between the hours listed below. Program takes place at the Recreation Center.

This soccer camp uses coaches from the U.K. to provide fundamentals of soccer through a range of activities. Campers will enjoy playing soccer games, tag games and more. All campers receive a ball and t-shirt.Camp held at Clark Community Park. All Campers must have shin guards and bring a snack + water bottle.

This Fun program will provide a variety of different activities: outdoor games, water color, collages, story time, water games, playground play, and many more exciting activities. This Program is for Pre-K children ages 4 through Kindergarten and is held from 9:00– 12:00 at The Rec. Center. Ratio is 1 staff to 6 children.
 
9:00 AM - 3:00 PM    OSPR Adventure Program - OSPR Summer Adventure Camp
OSPR is excited to offer a new full day camp this summer for children entering grades 7th-9th.  This camp will be instructed by OSMS Physical Educator Katelyn Flannagan, who is pursuing her Master's Degree in outdoor education.  This camp will inforce great skills such as leadership, skill building while improving self confidence through ice breakers and other activities.This program will take place at OSMS gym and will use both the indoor and outdoor high and low ropes course.  This is a challenge by choice program.

Register for camp this summer and enjoy a week of fun & games! Camp is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm at the Recreation Center. Mondays we head downtown on our Main Street Stroll, Wednesdays, Mini Golf and Town Beach and on Fridays we head out for a Field Trip. Yellow Shirt Volunteers Each and every summer the Summer Camp program invites children who are going into 8th, 9th 10th , 11th grade to become a Yellow Shirt counselor at the camp. A yellow shirt is a volunteer counselor, that aids the main staff in provided care for the children. Basic duties include set up/breakdown of games, bathroom breaks, group supervision on trips, being active in games, and much more. Yellow shirts will work one full week of the summer and can receive volunteer hours to fulfill school requirements. Sign up online or in the office for the week that you would like to volunteer. Space is limited in each session. YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR ONLY ONE SESSION!!!!

We will use cones for goals which help with skill development and control as well as game strategy.Also, in June we will start our outdoor summer league at Ferry Rd. and Maple Ave. Ball field.  This will be an 6 week league.  We will play pick up style, small sided play.   Make sure your email address is accurate and that you check it for league updates, rosters, schedules, etc.

Join us for a fun and exciting youth lacrosse clinic that will focus on the skills of this up and coming, action packed sport.  Participants will learn all the fundamentals, skills and strategies that lacrosse has to offer.

A strength/cardio class suitable for all levels! Our focus is on strength-building exercises targeting every muscle group to create lean muscle mass that will burn calories and increase your metabolism - a double whammy to attack body fat! The result will be a leaner, more sculpted, happier you!   Bring a towel, water bottle, and mat. Wear sneakers please and if you have hand weights, bring them along!

Welcome to the 41st annual Summer Concert Series brought to you by Guilford Savings Bank. We have 10 weeks of live music at the Town Green on Wednesdays night starting at 6:30pm and then on 5 Friday nights at Harvey's Beach starting at 7:00pm.We would like to thank all of our sponsors and community partners who help us bring this 15 show series to our residents for FREE. Bring a blanket and some chairs, pack a picnic and enjoy a great night of live music.This is a family friendly event and as with all of our parks and facilities, the use of alcohol and/or tobacco is prohibited.

On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

This theatrical program will include highly structured Drama activities and games followed by rehearsals for our live production! Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. These classes build on each other, and working towards our big idea for the program. Each class will incorporate fun confidence building activities, games and rehearsals and a live production.
 
9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults Summer Session
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.
 
9:45 AM - 10:30 AM    Life at the beach - Life at the Beach
This class features lots of crafts projects that will focus on a Beach Theme. We will use shells, sand, stories, sea creatures and more. Class takes place in the Recreation Center. Class lasts 6 weeks.

Yellow Shirt Volunteers Each and every summer the Summer Camp program invites children who are going into 8th, 9th 10th , 11th grade to become a Yellow Shirt counselor at the camp. A yellow shirt is a volunteer counselor, that aids the main staff in provided care for the children. Basic duties include set up/breakdown of games, bathroom breaks, group supervision on trips, being active in games, and much more. Yellow shirts will work one full week of the summer and can receive volunteer hours to fulfill school requirements. Sign up online or in the office for the week that you would like to volunteer. Gentle Yoga is a Vinyasa-based class which blends breath with movement, balancing gentle stretches and openings with invigorating poses. Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind. Class meets on Mondays & Thursdays from 10:00AM-11:15AM Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Welcome to the 41st annual Summer Concert Series brought to you by Guilford Savings Bank. We have 10 weeks of live music at the Town Green on Wednesdays night starting at 6:30pm and then on 5 Friday nights at Harvey's Beach starting at 7:00pm.We would like to thank all of our sponsors and community partners who help us bring this 15 show series to our residents for FREE. Bring a blanket and some chairs, pack a picnic and enjoy a great night of live music.This is a family friendly event and as with all of our parks and facilities, the use of alcohol and/or tobacco is prohibited.

Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

Yellow Shirt Volunteers Each and every summer the Summer Camp program invites children who are going into 8th, 9th 10th , 11th grade to become a Yellow Shirt counselor at the camp. A yellow shirt is a volunteer counselor, that aids the main staff in provided care for the children. Basic duties include set up/breakdown of games, bathroom breaks, group supervision on trips, being active in games, and much more. Yellow shirts will work one full week of the summer and can receive volunteer hours to fulfill school requirements. Sign up online or in the office for the week that you would like to volunteer. Tennis instruction for this group will be based on age, physical size and ability. Children will develop better technical skills and point playing ability using modified court size, racquets and balls where appropriate (Quick Start green balls or yellow balls). The curriculum is designed to work on stroke technique, footwork, consistency and accuracy as well as match/point play. Classes will include a combination of drills and play-based activities aimed at developing an overall mastery of the fundamentals of tennis.Taught by Ruthanne Rothman, a USPTR Certified Instructor and OSHS Varsity Girls Tennis Coach.

These extra hours are designed to provide supervision to youth in grade 1st – 5th whose parents work beyond the 9:00-4:00PM Camp time. Join us for a fun and exciting youth lacrosse clinic that will focus on the skills of this up and coming, action packed sport.  Participants will learn all the fundamentals, skills and strategies that lacrosse has to offer.

Join us in our inaugural season of our summer Tennis League for adults on Thursdays nights at the Old Saybrook High School Tennis courts.  You will rotate partners each week and play games of doubles or mixed doubles depending on the match.  you can expect to play two, 7 game matches each week.

Our focus is on strength-building exercises targeting every muscle group to create lean muscle mass that will burn calories and increase your metabolism - a double whammy to attack body fat! This theatrical program will include highly structured Drama activities and games followed by rehearsals for our live production! Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. These classes build on each other, and working towards our big idea for the program. Each class will incorporate fun confidence building activities, games and rehearsals and a live production.
 
9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults Summer Session
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.
 
9:45 AM - 10:30 AM    Life at the beach - Life at the Beach
This class features lots of crafts projects that will focus on a Beach Theme. We will use shells, sand, stories, sea creatures and more. Class takes place in the Recreation Center. Class lasts 6 weeks.

Kids learn how to groove to the rhythm of their favorite songs!  This program will have your child using their imagination and exploring a variety of movements, patterns, sounds and concepts.  This program is designed to introduce children to music and dance.
 
4:30 PM - 6:00 PM    Baseball and Softball Skills Camp - Baseball and Softball Skills Camp
OSPR is bringing a new spin on our traditional sport camps, we are reaching to the younger crowd to offer a clinic designed to keep kids in the sport of baseball and softball. Working with OSHS Varsity Softball coach and OSMS PE Teacher Katelyn Livingston, the kids will work on the basics of the sport in fun and interesting games and drills. The last night we will have a game to show off our skills!! Clinic takes place at The Rec.

Football camp is BACK!! Camp will take place on the new turf field at OSHS.  Camp is instructed by  OSHS Varsity Football coach Rob Marone and the rest of the coaching staff.  This camp is geared to teach your child the skills needed to play football in a non-contact atmosphere.  There will be drills and games and a lot of summer fun.

We will use cones for goals which help with skill development and control as well as game strategy.Also, in June we will start our outdoor summer league at Ferry Rd. and Maple Ave. Ball field.  This will be an 6 week league.  We will play pick up style, small sided play.   Make sure your email address is accurate and that you check it for league updates, rosters, schedules, etc.

OSPR is bringing a new spin on our traditional sport camps, we are reaching to the younger crowd to offer a clinic designed to keep kids in the sport of baseball and softball. Working with OSHS Varsity Softball coach and OSMS PE Teacher Katelyn Livingston, the kids will work on the basics of the sport in fun and interesting games and drills. The last night we will have a game to show off our skills!! Clinic takes place at The Rec.

This Winter OSPR is running our first Lacrosse league at the Rec.  This league is for any student,male or femail in grades 9th - 12th and will take place on Sundays at 3:00pm.  It will be a fast pace, 3v3 pick up style league.
 
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM    Adult Basketball - 30+ Basketball
Adult basketball on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Rec. are free to Old Saybrook Residents, and residents may bring a guest for a $2 admission cost.  Pick-up style basketball starts at 7pm and goes till 8:30.  Monday nights is for the 18+ ball players and Tuesday night is reserved for the 30+ plus crowd.  For any questions please contact the Rec.

A strength/cardio class suitable for all levels! Our focus is on strength-building exercises targeting every muscle group to create lean muscle mass that will burn calories and increase your metabolism - a double whammy to attack body fat! The result will be a leaner, more sculpted, happier you!   Bring a towel, water bottle, and mat. Wear sneakers please and if you have hand weights, bring them along!

Modifications encourage mixed-level students to work to their personal edge. Focus of this class is on stress release and re-energizing of body and mind. Class meets on Mondays & Thursdays from 10:00AM-11:15AM Class Taught by : Terri Cain, BFA, MA, MDiv, certified Kripalu Yoga instructor; has lead students for over 20 years. Inspiration for her yoga classes comes from her background in dance, intensive training in Dance Therapy and Movement Analysis with Irmgard Bartenieff, founder of the Laban Institute of Movement Studies, studies in the Alexander Technique, and an ongoing exploration of spirituality and the arts (Master of Divinity -Yale/ Institute of Sacred Music.) Terri teaches group and private yoga for all ages. She brings her yoga off the mat as President of Guilford Community TV, and as Founding Partner and Manager of the Hubbard Community Garden at the Medad Stone Tavern
