The Teen Center is a drop-in program at the OSPR Recreation Center behind Town Hall and adjacent to the Old Saybrook Middle School.  It is a supervised setting where your child can interact with peers and develop social skills and relationships.  We have a wide variety of activities and games offered daily.  Members are able to use the Teen Center lounge and game tables, the gym as well as the outside basketball courts and baseball field.1/2 Days on Monday - Thursday - TC 11:55am to 5:30pmPlease print out the form from the link below and return to office before you child attends the first time.
 
7:00 PM - 8:30 PM    Adult Basketball - 30+ Basketball
Adult basketball on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Rec. are free to Old Saybrook Residents, and residents may bring a guest for a $2 admission cost.  Pick-up style basketball starts at 7pm and goes till 8:30.  Monday nights is for the 18+ ball players and Tuesday night is reserved for the 30+ plus crowd.  For any questions please contact the Rec.

On Wednesday nights the gym is open to all adults to come and play pick-up style volleyball. This is a great opportunity to get out mid week and have a fun and active evening. The competition is friendly and usually we are able to play 3 to 4 matches each night.

9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

This theatrical program will include highly structured Drama activities and games followed by rehearsals for our live production! Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. These classes build on each other, and working towards our big idea for the program. Each class will incorporate fun confidence building activities, games and rehearsals and a live production.
 
9:45 AM - 10:30 AM    Life at the beach - Life at the Beach
This class features lots of crafts projects that will focus on a Beach Theme. We will use shells, sand, stories, sea creatures and more. Class takes place in the Recreation Center. Class lasts 6 weeks.

The Park & Recreation Department will offer a Before & After Camp Care program. These extra hours are designed to provide supervision to youth in grade 1st – 5th whose parents work beyond the 9:00-4:00PM Camp time. We will staff from 8:00 –9:00 a.m. with a ratio of one staff to every 12 children. After Care will be available from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. with the same ratio. Staff is not on duty before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:30 p.m. Please make sure your child is dropped off or picked up between the hours listed below. Program takes place at the Recreation Center.

This Fun program will provide a variety of different activities: outdoor games, water color, collages, story time, water games, playground play, and many more exciting activities. This Program is for Pre-K children ages 4 through Kindergarten and is held from 9:00– 12:00 at The Rec. Center. Ratio is 1 staff to 6 children.

Looking to stay in the game this summer, OSPR has a new league for you!  Led by Old Saybrook Basketball Club (formerly CT River), is an 8 week league for any child entering grades 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th.  Games will be played on the Vin Baker basketball courts outside the Rec.  Games will be played at 5,6,7, or 8:00pm.  Games will be coached and reffed by OSBC coaches.  This is a great way for your child to get to know their potential coach.Each player will receive a reversible tank top to wear each game.

The Park & Recreation Department will offer a Before & After Camp Care program. These extra hours are designed to provide supervision to youth in grade 1st – 5th whose parents work beyond the 9:00-4:00PM Camp time. Kids learn how to groove to the rhythm of their favorite songs!  This program will have your child using their imagination and exploring a variety of movements, patterns, sounds and concepts.  This program is designed to introduce children to music and dance.

Adult basketball on Monday and Tuesday nights at the Rec. are free to Old Saybrook Residents, and residents may bring a guest for a $2 admission cost.  Pick-up style basketball starts at 7pm and goes till 8:30.  Monday nights is for the 18+ ball players and Tuesday night is reserved for the 30+ plus crowd.  For any questions please contact the Rec.

This theatrical program will include highly structured Drama activities and games followed by rehearsals for our live production! Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. These classes build on each other, and working towards our big idea for the program. Each class will incorporate fun confidence building activities, games and rehearsals and a live production.
 
9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults Summer Session
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.
 
9:45 AM - 10:30 AM    Life at the beach - Life at the Beach
This class features lots of crafts projects that will focus on a Beach Theme. We will use shells, sand, stories, sea creatures and more. Class takes place in the Recreation Center. Class lasts 6 weeks.

This theatrical program will include highly structured Drama activities and games followed by rehearsals for our live production! Each class, we make sure that your child is having a fantastic time while developing essential life skills along the way. These classes build on each other, and working towards our big idea for the program. Each class will incorporate fun confidence building activities, games and rehearsals and a live production.
 
9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults Summer Session
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.
 
9:45 AM - 10:30 AM    Life at the beach - Life at the Beach
This class features lots of crafts projects that will focus on a Beach Theme. We will use shells, sand, stories, sea creatures and more. Class takes place in the Recreation Center. Class lasts 6 weeks.

OSPR is bringing a new spin on our traditional sport camps, we are reaching to the younger crowd to offer a clinic designed to keep kids in the sport of baseball and softball. Working with OSHS Varsity Softball coach and OSMS PE Teacher Katelyn Livingston, the kids will work on the basics of the sport in fun and interesting games and drills. The last night we will have a game to show off our skills!! Clinic takes place at The Rec.

Register for camp this summer and enjoy a week of fun & games! Camp is Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am - 4:00pm at the Recreation Center. Mondays we head downtown on our Main Street Stroll, Wednesdays, Mini Golf and Town Beach and on Fridays we head out for a Field Trip. Sessions are open to all residents entering 1st -5th Grade. Summer camp is a series of one week programs that will feature field games, sport activities, arts-N-crafts, trips and special events. Program held Monday-Friday 9:00-4:00PM. Program takes place at the Recreation Center. NO CAMP JULY 4th. For Session dates, please see below.Tuesday is beach day as we spend the afternoon's at Harvey's Beach in town.Wednessday is mini golf day at Saybrook Point Miniature Golf.Each Thursday we go on our special field trips.  Please see the link below for all field trip information.
 
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM    Yellow Shirt Volunteer Counselor - Yellow Shirt Session 4
Yellow Shirt Volunteers Each and every summer the Summer Camp program invites children who are going into 8th, 9th 10th , 11th grade to become a Yellow Shirt counselor at the camp. A yellow shirt is a volunteer counselor, that aids the main staff in provided care for the children. Basic duties include set up/breakdown of games, bathroom breaks, group supervision on trips, being active in games, and much more. Yellow shirts will work one full week of the summer and can receive volunteer hours to fulfill school requirements. Sign up online or in the office for the week that you would like to volunteer. Space is limited in each session. YOU CAN SIGN UP FOR ONLY ONE SESSION!!!!
 
10:00 AM - 4:00 PM    Summer Teen Trips for 7th-12th Graders - Yard Goats Baseball Game
Do you have a 7th-12th grader that isn't interested in summer camp, but is still looking for something fun and exciting to do this summer? OSPR will be offering a variety of trips that will be sure to entertain teens of all ages. Make sure to check out the 7 trips, there is something for everyone!

OSPR is bringing a new spin on our traditional sport camps, we are reaching to the younger crowd to offer a clinic designed to keep kids in the sport of baseball and softball. Working with OSHS Varsity Softball coach and OSMS PE Teacher Katelyn Livingston, the kids will work on the basics of the sport in fun and interesting games and drills. The last night we will have a game to show off our skills!! Clinic takes place at The Rec.

8:00 AM - 9:00 AM    Before Camp Care - Before Care Session 4
The Park & Recreation Department will offer a Before & After Camp Care program. These extra hours are designed to provide supervision to youth in grade 1st – 5th whose parents work beyond the 9:00-4:00PM Camp time. We will staff from 8:00 –9:00 a.m. with a ratio of one staff to every 12 children. After Care will be available from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. with the same ratio. Staff is not on duty before 8:00 a.m. or after 5:30 p.m. Please make sure your child is dropped off or picked up between the hours listed below. Program takes place at the Recreation Center.
 
9:00 AM - 12:00 PM    Junior Playground Camp - Junior Camp Session 4
This Fun program will provide a variety of different activities: outdoor games, water color, collages, story time, water games, playground play, and many more exciting activities. This Program is for Pre-K children ages 4 through Kindergarten and is held from 9:00– 12:00 at The Rec. Center. Ratio is 1 staff to 6 children.

Looking to stay in the game this summer, OSPR has a new league for you!  Led by Old Saybrook Basketball Club (formerly CT River), is an 8 week league for any child entering grades 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th.  Games will be played on the Vin Baker basketball courts outside the Rec.  Games will be played at 5,6,7, or 8:00pm.  Games will be coached and reffed by OSBC coaches.  This is a great way for your child to get to know their potential coach.Each player will receive a reversible tank top to wear each game.
