Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.
 
9:30 AM - 10:15 AM    Silly Scientists - Silly Science for Jr's
This OSPR classic will have your child engaged in science and having a great time with their friends as they explore, solids, liquids, gas, slime, magnets and a whole lot more.We offer two age levels of our Silly Science program, pre-K and K-3rd.
 
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM    Youth Basketball League - Basketball, 2nd & 3rd Grade Boys
Old Saybrook Parks & Recreation Youth Basketball program begins in January  with practices and games and runs for (7) weeks. This basketball program is open to boys & girls in grades 2—8 of all abilities. All players receive a shirt and loads of fun. Players will be divided up by gender into two different age divisions. Grades 2nd & 3rd, Grades 4th & 5th, and grades 6th- 8th. Teams will have weekly practices and games will be played on Saturday mornings at the Recreation Center Divisions are subject to change based on registration numbers

The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

In yoga Namaste is said to show appreciation and respect for one another. "Namaste After School" is an after school yoga program which incorporates physical activity with mindfulness, while encouraging students to respect themselves as well as others. Yoga can help to improve mood, resilience, and self-regulation so students can better cope with emotions and stress. Yoga offers students a break from various distractions, technologies, and stressors in their lives while simultaneously promoting compassion, self-awareness and mindfulness, which can be valuable life-long skills.

Looking for a low impact, high intensity, and exciting way to better fitness??  Look no further than Racewalking!  An Olympic sport that burns more calories then running at the same speed.We are offering two free clinics to learn the sport and the skills to achieve better fitness.  This is an introduction course, and our instructors Maryanne and Ron Daniel are international competitors and coaches of the CT Racewalkers Club.  They are also National Champions in the sport.

THere will be 3 different age groups, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15 years old. Each participant will have three, 1 minute rounds to shoot from designated "hotspots". The 3 highest scores from each age group will move on to the state HotShots Contest, date Saturday, April 1st, here at the Rec Center.Please fill out a participation form for each participant. Your K – 3rd grader can enjoy this program that will teach the basic skills needed to play the sport. Class will feature 20 minutes of skill building and 25 minutes of game play All equipment is provided. Sticks are soft for safety reasons. Players must wear non-marking white soled sneakers.

Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

Kids learn how to groove to the rhythm of their favorite songs!  This program will have your child using their imagination and exploring a variety of movements, patterns, sounds and concepts.  This program is designed to introduce children to music and dance.

After two indoor futsal seasons, OSPR is offering its first high school outdoor summer soccer league!Game Play - 6v6 (small sided, a lot of touches, skill development, fast pace games)Rosters and Schedules will be announced by Friday, June 23rd. Your child will sing along to some of the all time favorite songs while using some cool instruments like bells, drums, triangles, and more to find the rhythm and keep the beat. A great way for your child to learn to hear different sounds while interacting with other children. In yoga Namaste is said to show appreciation and respect for one another. "Namaste After School" is an after school yoga program which incorporates physical activity with mindfulness, while encouraging students to respect themselves as well as others. Yoga can help to improve mood, resilience, and self-regulation so students can better cope with emotions and stress. Yoga offers students a break from various distractions, technologies, and stressors in their lives while simultaneously promoting compassion, self-awareness and mindfulness, which can be valuable life-long skills.
