Get your little one down to the Rec to join in all the soccer fun at OSPR!!  Classes will focus on developing the basic soccer skills while having a lot of fun at the same time.  Classes will last 45 minutes at the Rec and will incorporate drills and mini games and game play. Classes are low in number to allow for better and more personal instruction.

Old Saybrook Parks & Recreation Youth Basketball program begins in January  with practices and games and runs for (7) weeks. This basketball program is open to boys & girls in grades 2—8 of all abilities. All players receive a shirt and loads of fun. Players will be divided up by gender into two different age divisions. Grades 2nd & 3rd, Grades 4th & 5th, and grades 6th- 8th. In yoga Namaste is said to show appreciation and respect for one another. "Namaste After School" is an after school yoga program which incorporates physical activity with mindfulness, while encouraging students to respect themselves as well as others. Yoga can help to improve mood, resilience, and self-regulation so students can better cope with emotions and stress. Yoga offers students a break from various distractions, technologies, and stressors in their lives while simultaneously promoting compassion, self-awareness and mindfulness, which can be valuable life-long skills.

Looking for a low impact, high intensity, and exciting way to better fitness??  Look no further than Racewalking!  An Olympic sport that burns more calories then running at the same speed.We are offering two free clinics to learn the sport and the skills to achieve better fitness.  This is an introduction course, and our instructors Maryanne and Ron Daniel are international competitors and coaches of the CT Racewalkers Club.  They are also National Champions in the sport.

THere will be 3 different age groups, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15 years old. Each participant will have three, 1 minute rounds to shoot from designated "hotspots". The 3 highest scores from each age group will move on to the state HotShots Contest, date Saturday, April 1st, here at the Rec Center.Please fill out a participation form for each participant. These forms can be brought to OSPR prior to the event or the day of.

Open gym afterschool at the Rec. is taking off to new heights.  For 5 weeks we will have pick up style basketball games, with Refs and scoreboards for two different divisions on seperate courts.  A great way to begin the March Maddness here at OPSRSneakers are required!

Every March, OSPR teams up with the coaches, managers and volunteers with Old Saybrook Little League to bring you spring training.  This four week program is geared to get you ready for the spring season and for our younger athletes to get you some extra practice before the season begins.All sessions are lead by OSLL coaches and managers.  All sessions take place at The Rec.
 
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Adult Kickball League - Adult Kickball League
New in 2018 is our first Adult Kickball League.  This will be a great way to beat the cold winter months and get out of the house to move around.  Come with your own team of 10 and sign up ASAP.  Only the team captain needs to register and the fee is $50.00 for the whole team.

9:30 AM - 11:00 AM    Adult Pickleball - Pickleball for Adults
Open to adults 30+ on Monday mornings at the Rec. Center. Pickleball is a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with the same dimensions as a doubles badminton court. The net is similar to a tennis net, but is mounted two inches lower. The game is played with a hard paddle and a polymer wiffleball. All equipment is provided so be ready to have fun.

After two indoor futsal seasons, OSPR is offering its first high school outdoor summer soccer league!Game Play - 6v6 (small sided, a lot of touches, skill development, fast pace games)Rosters and Schedules will be announced by Friday, June 23rd.
